Crosstown Harmony Chorus celebrates its 65th Year!

Crosstown Harmony Chorus formed 65 years ago and shows no signs of slowing down. We've laughed, loved and made beautiful music. This chorus is more than a group of singers, it's a group of extraordinary, hard working women committed to musical excellence through education, performance and competition in the Barbershop style. But perhaps most importantly, we're a group of friends, a sisterhood bound by music. Here's to 65 more!

"Come Go With Me" was a Huge Hit!

(pictured above: for our final number we invited all our fellow Sweet Adelines in the audience on stage to perform "How We Sang Today" with us. Once a Sweet Adeline, always a Sweet Adeline!)

What a show! We are thrilled that everyone enjoyed our fall cabaret "Come Go With Me", featuring the silky jazz tones of our Special Guest Star - Heart to Heart

The audience sang, laughed, won fantastic raffle prizes, but most of all had a great time. Thank you to all who attended, we look forward to seeing you at the next show!

Honoring our Veterans

Crosstown Harmony Chorus performed on Saturday, September 3rd at the Vietnam Moving Wall Memorial in Germantown. We were honored to be invited to share this beautiful tribute and to welcome home our heroes. We, non-military, are reminded That Freedom is not free, it comes at a price. And that price is written on this Wall.

Made possible by the Germantown American Legion Post 1, The Vietnam Moving Wall™ (TMW) was on display at Kennedy Middle School athletic field September 1-5. The Moving Wall™ is a half-size replica of the Washington, DC Vietnam Veterans Memorial and has been touring the country for 30-plus years. There are 58,307 names on this wall. 14 of those names are from Washington County.

Directors Seminar 2016

Sweet Adelines International is always offering continued education so the members of Crosstown Harmony were happy to send our director to the 2016 Directors Seminar. It was an exciting and intensive two-day educational event for frontline directors. On Friday, the curriculum featured a full day of rotating level workshops, in which each faculty member each taught one topic, rotating through each chorus level during the day. That meant all levels received equal time with each of the amazing faculty! On the second full day of open sessions, guest faculty Dr. Jim Henry, along with a roster of world-class Sweet Adelines teaching faculty, shared their knowledge and expertise on topics ranging from conducting to kinesthetics, to expressive singing and effective interpretive plans.

Serving Up Harmony at the Ozaukee County Fair

The chorus that plays together, stays together. For our 2nd year, members of Crosstown Harmony worked the tents at the Ozaukee County Fair doling out drinks to thirsty patrons. We had an awesome time serving, conversing, singing and dancing along to the fun music of the fairs entertainers. Pictured above is the "Bari-Only Bar" manned by Pam Laufenberg, Mary Campbell and Janet McGinty. Great job ladies!

Bringing Music to the Residents of Arbor House

Crosstown Harmony put on a great Birthday show for the residents of Arbor House. The residence and staff were all tapping their toes to the sweet sounds of Barbershop. Arbor House is a dedicated program within The Arboretum in Menomoee Falls designed for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia. Under the professional eye of a registered nurse, specially trained and compassionate caregivers address the unique needs of individuals at varying stages of memory loss with a customized care plan. Monthly fees include personal care services, weekly housekeeping and laundry, and three meals a day. We can't wait to be inviting back next year!

Music, Worship and Ice Cream!

Crosstown Harmony enjoyed entertaining the attendees of the 66th Convention of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod on Sunday, July 10th at the Wisconsin Center in downtown Milwaukee. We be-bopped and cut-a-rug for the attendees during their ice cream social following the convention. Nothing goes better with ice cream than Barbershop Music! Thank you for having us!

West Allis Ala Carte was a blast!

Crosstown Harmony was invited to perform at West Allis Ala Carte this past weekend and it was a great turn out. The crowds enjoyed our Barbershop style and there was even a dog who couldn't keep his barks/applause to himself. And our booth made quite the splash with the public, attracting alot of potential singers to Crosstown. Thank you for everyone that came out to support Crosstown and we were happy to entertain you!

Cool Beans Takes 4th Place at Regional Convention!

One of the most exciting things about being a Sweet Adeline is participating in a regional or international competition. This past weekend Region 3 held its annual regional convention and competition at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center in Appleton, WI. It was a weekend filled with great music, learning opportunities, and bonding with our sisters. Crosstown Harmony was there to cheer on Cool Beans, a quartet of Crosstown members including Kari Schwartz, Colleen Matt, Ilse Barkowski & MJ Martillo as they took 4th place! Crosstown Hamony couldn't be prouder to have these amazing women! Congratulations!!
