Quartet Questions?

CTH members, Collene and Diane, embarked on a day trip to Joliet, Illinois to engage in a fun and informative afternoon of learning about the nuances of quartet singing.  Topics included finding the right vocal matches to knowing what your goals will be as a group, plus so much moré!  Keep your eyes peeled for more Region 3 events to continue growing in your musical life.  After all, “Tomorrow’s another day…”

Welcome, Camille!

Crosstown Harmony welcomed a guest to our rehearsal this week.  Camille was looking for a choral fit here in her new country and found us online.  We’re glad you did, Camille!

MVE Shines and Surprises

The MVE Chorus brought joy, energy, and laughter to Monday night’s rehearsal.  Crosstown was proud to be a test group for them as they head to Internationals next weekend.  Their performance for us was amazingly good.  We’re hoping they wow the judges at the competition and come home with some fun hardware.  (Since MVE requested we don’t post any stills or videos of them until after the competition, here’s a pic of our go-to gal, Kari!

Crosstown Chords Ring at Summer League Baseball Game

Athletes are known to play through the pain.  Occasionally, choir members do, too, as tenor Rochelle Hackmann, one-and-a-half-days post op from emergency surgery brought her incredible high notes to be with her choir sisters as they performed the national anthem at today’s Lakeshore Chinooks game.

Fourteen ladies of Crosstown sang to a welcoming audience and received positive feedback on their rendition of the song.

It was a fun family afternoon filled with good baseball, kids contests, cheering, singing, and making memories.

Culver's Share Night

It was Crosstown Harmony night at the Elm Grove Culver's this past Tuesday. Crosstown members and family helped deliver food to hungry customers and in exchange, Culver's donated a percentage of each & every sale placed between 4:00pm - 8:00pm! The grand total....$1375! WOW!!! We're so grateful to have such a generous hometown partner in Culver's. Thank you to everyone who came out in support!

Coaching Weekend!

Crosstown Harmony welcomed special guest coaches Karen Sweeters and her sister Gina Kaiser to share their knowledge and skills in barbershop during our semi-annual weekend retreat.

Karen Sweeters is the heart and soul of Harmony on the Sound Chorus.  With over 35 years in Sweet Adelines International, she has gone from singing "on the risers" to directing and growing the chorus into what it is today. Known for her easy going manner and creativity, she decided early on that her chorus would rise to new heights by doing something different.  With Lyricist Jane Tamarkin, she started preparing the competition songs as parodies.  Over time the judging panels began to look forward to hearing what she would come up with.

Love Stories

Thank you to everyone that came out to see our Valentine's show "Love Stories". Not only did we sing, but we also got to share the real stories behind the people we love. We so enjoyed celebrating the moments that were funny, romantic, dramatic, and deeply sentimental with you. It was an evening of harmony and heart for all that attended.
