Thank you for all our family members, friends and supporters of Crosstown Harmony Chorus for sending us off in style at our Send-Off Show Monday, March 27th! We're headed to the Region 3 Convention and Competition and couldn't have gotten here without your support. We performed our contest package, heard from our amazing quartets: Cool Beans, To The Max and Ruckus, and enjoyed some snacks and beverages with the ones we love most. Thank you to everyone who attended!

Crosstown had an awesome in-town retreat with Lynne Smith, Showmanship Coach Extraordinaire! She had us dancing and marching and expressing ourselves in song.

Saturday morning, we had a surprise visit from another coach, Bonnie Fedyski, who popped into town to give us some more coaching on our sound. We even played with kazoos! They were a dynamic duo of information and inspiration!

Thank you to them and Kari, our ever-lovin' director, for an excellent couple of days.

To the Max had the privilege and honor to sing the National Anthem at the American Legion Post 171 Spaghetti Dinner & Fundraiser in Union Grove. Patrick Mitchell, aka "Maverick", who has the most beautiful custom red, white & blue painted Harley, heard them sing at the car dealership last summer, and was their connection to an afternoon of fun and food.

Yep--sometimes they sing for food--this time a delicious spaghetti dinner with all the fixins, and chocolate cake for dessert. They hung around and sang a few more songs, had some adult beverages and got to meet some wonderful veterans. Thanks Maverick for inviting To The Max to sing for you and all your fellow riders.

Pick-up quartet “Mixed Nuts” hit the road to deliver 6 singing valentines on Valentines Day! Julie (lead), Karalynn (bass), Pam (bari) and Rochelle (tenor) had a blast singing at Fi-Med Company in Brookfield, Eisenhower School in New Berlin, the Wisconsin Athletic Club in Menomonee Falls, and homes in New Berlin, Pewaukee and Wauwatosa! They wrapped up the day by meeting with sister quartet “To The Max” to sing together for Beth Meyer’s mom. What fun!

The members of Crosstown are committed to furthering their musical skills and take part in many educational events throughout the year. The February Frolic was an exciting educational experience with the incomparable Betty Clipman!

Director Betty’s experience in Sweet Adelines International spans over 40 years and covers all aspects of the organization.  She is committed to continuous musical growth through better educational opportunities.  Her vision is to musically educate women of all ages, enabling them to experience the joy of singing four-part harmony a capella through improved vocal and performance skills.

The Women of Note award is given to one member of each chorus in Region 3, chosen by chorus leadership, who rises above and beyond at the chorus level.

Crosstown Harmony’s Woman of Note is Jeanette Schupp! A woman who maintains a full time job, is a primary caregiver at home and holds many roles at Crosstown. She performs regularly in our outside performances, emcees these performances, assists with costumes, she is our treasurer and was chairperson for our fantastic fall cabaret. She became a member of Crosstown in 1982, left Crosstown in 1990 and came back to us in 2013. Since her return, she has been a huge contributor to anyone or team that needs a hand.

Last night, Crosstown Harmony had a fabulous coaching session with the fabulous Jim Arns. One more step on our way to Regional Competition this April!

Jim Arns has directed the Melodeers Chorus since 1988, and is one of an elite group of directors to receive the Master Director 700, created in 2009 by Sweet Adelines International to honor musical directors whose choruses score 700 points or more (out of a possible 800) in Regional Competitions.

In addition to directing the Melodeers, Jim enjoys an international reputation as a clinician, vocal coach, and music arranger. Although he serves as faculty at numerous regional and international symposia and travels extensively nearly every week of the year, he is “at home” each week to rehearse the Melodeers.

To The Max had a busy holiday season!

They had the privilege of singing at the Zilber Hospice Angel Tree Memorial Service. Since Judy was called away to nurse one of her sons back to health, they enlisted the talents of our friend, Christine Krause, to take over as their Lead-For-The-Day. They sang a couple of carols, then hummed "Silent Night" while the chaplains and other Zilber dignitaries read the names of those patients who passed away during the last year. A very moving and beautiful service. Christine enjoyed the quartet experience as well.

Sizzle! enjoyed some fun performances this past holiday season!

First, they hit the road for Lake Geneva on Thanksgiving weekend, to perform "walk-around style" at the Grand Geneva Resort & Spa.  The resort was beautifully decked-out for the holidays both inside and out, with magnificent panoramic lighted scenes overlooking the landscape.  Children were lined up all afternoon for visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus, and several wedding parties were celebrating as well.  The quartet kept on the move for the entire afternoon, singing to guests in the foyer, lounges and dining areas.

This holiday season Crosstown Harmony Chorus brought the music of the season to communities throughout Wisconsin. We loved sharing our medley of heartwarming music to people who otherwise may not have been able to get out and experience a quality performance like this.
